boneglow is a full-length dance that imagines a sliver of light shining into a stagnant, dark room as a metaphor for personal and political metamorphosis. The grounded, gritty, and gripping movement of the Durham-based quartet is backed by original music compositions from Durham’s Dave Yarwood and NY-based Son Lux. Aumiller and the RAD team transform the theater space in the Living Arts Collective by switching up the seating arrangements and installing an intricate scenic design that encloses the stage space in black paper and showcases handmade metal pendulums by Mary Catherine Floyd. Becoming part of the dance, the pendulums will be manipulated, moved, and partnered by the dancers.
Renay Aumiller has been actively involved in the NC dance community since she moved back home from Chicago to the Triangle area in May 2010. She founded RAD | Renay Aumiller Dances in 2012. Through RAD, Renay has had the opportunity to present her works to audiences throughout North Carolina, as well as in Boston, New York, and Chicago. Renay is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance at Elon University and enjoys guest residencies in various studios and universities along the East Coast. She is also a Franklin Method Educator and proud mother of twin boys, Oliver and Milo, who were born earlier this year.
