Saturdays, 9:30 – 10:30a (see alternate location 2nd Saturdays starting in February

Where: Living Arts Collective
When: Saturdays 9:30 am to 10:30 am
Who: Gregory Louie
What: Taiji- 12 movement Wu style originally modified for Arthritis, now incorporating Yang, Chen and other elements
Why: Taiji is a practice for deepening dynamic awareness through paying attention to the slightest changes in bodily sensations during movement.
How: Guided exercises increase awareness focus on two elements of the architecture of your own body. 1. The sensations of compression and decompression that occur when stacking the bones against gravity. 2. The sensations of tension and relaxation that occur in opposing muscle groups and tendons during every movement moment by moment. Philosophy: Ultimately, your goal is to find the “Goldilocks” conditions (Not too large, not too small, but just right) for your own body. This is guided by the yin-yang philosophies of Taoism-Confucianism and can be applied to every area of life. Practicing it correctly is said to extend the natural life span.
