Come join us as special guest, Yuma “Docta Yew” Bellomee visits from Washington, DC to share traditional drum techniques, djembe & dunun rhythm(s), and song(s) originating from West Africa.

Docta Yew, originally from New York, has been drumming since childhood, for over 30 years, and has been teaching drumming for the past 20 years to both adults and children. He has studied rhythms from a variety of countries in West Africa and in the African diaspora, including (but not limited to) Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and the Americas. He is co-founder & musical director of Ni Dembaya African Drum & Dance Ensemble, and also is a lead and accompaniment drummer for Coyaba Dance Theater. Additionally, Docta Yew is a respected wholistic wellness consultant and herbalist with an African-centered approach to health.

Cost – $25 at the door, $20 in advance
Bring your own drum – very limited additional drums available for rent, on an RSVP or first-come basis.
